As an aggressive ice chewer since my teens (I'm now 66), I had to stop because my dentist gave me a hard time and said I was losing my enamel from the hard ice that is typical from stores and from my ice-making refrigerator. We don't have Sonic drive-ins near me so I never understood what all the fuss was about "soft ice." But now, thanks to the ingenuity of manufacturers in China, there are quite a few counter-top ice-making units available that do, indeed, make "good ice" that is soft and chewable. So I read the reviews and features and decided on the Thereye, which had what I was looking for at a good price point. I am a very happy ice chewer again, and while I don't imagine my dentist would completely endorse the practice, I can immediately tell that this softer ice is not a threat to the little enamel I have left! I only wish these machines had been available 30 years ago. As for the unit itself, it seems to be very well built -- it's heavy with lots of stainless steel and it feels like a substantial thing. The instructions are clear and simple -- not many options, but then other than cleaning and making ice, I can't imagine what you would need. Yes, the unit makes some noise, pretty much what I expected from listening to other commercial ice makers and the one built into my refrigerator. Do note that none of these units are actually freezers -- they make ice, of course, but once it hits the holding tank, it is no longer kept frozen. But this machine is so well insulated that the ice lasts a long time -- I'm almost always done consuming it before it melts. And, thanks to a clever design, all that happens when the ice does melt is that it goes back into the ice-making cycle again, so there is no excess or leftover water. The unit makes quite a bit of ice in one cycle, and it shuts off automatically if the ice tank fills up or the unit runs out of water. You can hook this particular machine up to a water line so you never have to fill it, but I'm fine with pouring in distilled water (recommended) from a bottle. Where I live distilled water is about $1 a gallon, so worth it to me -- tap water has a lot more minerals and my city-supplied water doesn't taste very good.
You should clean the unit fairly often, especially if you are using tap water. There are ice-cleaning solutions for sale here on Amazon and they work much like coffee-maker descaler does. The cleaning cycle is easy to figure out.
A few months into my constant ice-making, the unit developed a noise that I wasn't sure was normal. A quick note to the manufacturer was met with an immediate reply and they stayed with me until we were able to get that to go away. It was obvious from the language they used, that I was going to get satisfaction no matter what. The unit carries with it a 12-month warranty.
So if you like to chew ice or just want something for a tiki bar or for any other use, don't be shy -- pull the plug and get one of these units. You won't be sorry. I am a very happy ice chewer again, even if the medical literature refers to the practice (which they call pagophagia, a form of pica disorder) a mental illness! I'd rather be a happy nut with good teeth than a frustrated one.

Finally after searching a pellet ice machine for a few months I bought this one from Thereye. I live in Florida and love to chew on ice. I saw that Thereye has good customer service and thought it will be worth the investment.
It is an ice machine so yeah it makes noise doing its job, after a while I hardly notice it
It is big and just clears my upper cabinets and it must have clearance on all sides for ventilation to prevent overheating
Easy to clean and I buy descaler from amazon. I highly recommend cleaning often
Easy to clean which I love
After 6 months it started making a loud grinding noise, so I contacted Thereye and they sent an instruction sheet on ways to try to fix it - the response was very quick. I followed the instructions and sent a response back with a video about the issue. I was sent a new machine.
Love this machine, love the customer service. I highly recommend Thereye and this countertop pellet ice machine

Easy to fill. Great height! Measure before you buy. This is the second one I bought because the first was 1/2 in too tall. I'm glad because I like this design better. The kids stays open and you can scoop out your ice. The other one has a drawer you pulled out. I like this better. I don't even empty the bucket. When the ice melts, it just goes down to be used to make more ice. It runs water through each time it starts making ice, so some of the ice gets melted right under the ice spout. Also it starts making ice every time you open and close it, unless you don't knock the ice pile down or turn it off. I just keep mine on all the time. One of my favorite purchases ever! It really makes the BEST ICE!

I've had this machine for two weeks now and I'm very satisfied with the purchase. I was buying 5 lb. bags of ice from Chick fil a weekly and now that I have this ice maker, I don't even need to anymore. The ice that it produces is somewhere between Sonic and Chick fil a sized nuggets. It definitely satisfies the craving for that type of ice. Highly recommend.

**** UPDATE
Finally got a response and they handled the situation at the highest level. They tried to help me repair the issue and when that did not work, they overnighted a brand-new unit.
While not happy the first once broke, was extremely happy the company honored their warranty. The machine is great and produces a lot of ice - nugget ice which my family loves. Fingers crossed this one last longer (and I will ensure to clean it regularly). Great company to work with.

This chewy ice is convenient, and the machine never runs out with daily use. If we need more, we can just store some in freezer and the bin will be full again very quickly. Having this ice has prompted me to do much better about drinking water for my health.

I had a GE Opal for a few weeks and it was the loudest appliance in my house. The ice was great, but we couldn't handle the noise. This machine is a similar style with a few extra benefits - you can hook it straight to your water line for continuous ice, it operates at 50% of the sound of the Opal, and the style I think is more conducive to easy maintenance. It's been a great machine!

First, does it make pellet ice? Yes, it does! I hope for the long run I saved some money with this versus the more well known more expensive ice maker I could have purchased.
The ice maker arrived last night and I went ahead and unpacked and set up to see how well it would work and fit.
Packaging:
This is the second largest box I've received from Amazon. The box is heavy as others indicated but I do appreciate the care in packing. The boxes alone were fairly heavy. I had a box inside of a box, inside of a padded box that housed the ice maker. It was fairly easy to lift out of the final box . The ice maker was in one piece, no dents or scratches and is operational.
Size and placement of the Ice Maker:
I measured twice but thought I could defy the laws of physics in getting the ice maker into place with part of it up under the upper cabinet. I have a trim piece under the cabinet and my measurements told me the portion of the ice maker that was taller could easily fit under the cabinet, I had 10 inches of area underneath and only needed about 8 to place the ice maker underneath before the front slant down. Thinking I could simply tilt the ice maker on its side and then stand up under the cabinet, I tried and failed. In the tilt up the body of the ice maker is way taller than the bottom of the actual cabinet. Unless I remove the trim, which would allow me to just slide it under the cabinet, it's not going under the cabinet. I cannot move one solid object into or through another. Instead I turned it on the counter so I can access the ice and use other parts of the counter space on the other side. I will leave it here for now as this small counter area doesn't serve a lot of functions.
Performance:
Again, it makes that pellet ice I like so much, the slushy ice I like in my drinks to make them really cold. I ran a few cycles through the first night and then again today. When you first turn it on it is a bit noisy. When the first cycle of pellet ice is made and drops it is slightly noisy, like icy snow or small hail that hits your windows. Overall, it isn't that noisy. It's in my kitchen where I have a fridge or two, dishwasher, and humans who make the most noise. It took about 30 minutes or more for it to begin producing large amounts of ice and to get the temperature at the optimal degrees to efficiently make and retain a large amount of ice.
The instructions tell you to place it where you have at least 3 inches of clearance around the appliance. I don't have 3 inches on one of the sides but close enough. I noticed after making the first big batch of ice when I repositioned it that it does give off a lot of heat on the sides so keep that in mind when you are looking at where you will place this and what you plan on placing next to it.
I don't have it hooked up to a water source but there are instructions and a small hose for you if you have a water source to do this with. I just pour in the filtered water when I need to make ice.
So far, so good. I'm going to see how well I can work around the placement. If I don't like where it is I may just move it to my kitchenette counter in the basement (no lower cabinet trim) and just make ice as I need it, and use if fresh or bag it up for later. I won't be sending it back and giving up my slushy ice over this!
Just could have been 1 inch shorter in height.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost returned it, glad I didn't
Reviewed in the United States ???? on January 9, 2023

I almost returned it, and I'm glad I didn't. I really like it. The previous counter top ice maker I had was one where when the bucket was full I dumped the ice into a container in the freezer. Once my container was full I didn't have to run the ice maker again until I was out of ice. So I thought I had to do the same thing with this one (description states it is not a freezer, it only makes the ice). So I dumped the ice into the freezer and it froze into one big block of ice. I figured I'd have to break it apart a little bit....but nope, one solid brick of ice pellets. I was planning on returning it, but then read a review that stated that although it's not a freezer, the ice does last a long time in the well insulated design. So that's what I do and it works really well. It makes ice, stops when it's full, melts a little, makes more ice, and so on and so on and so on. I have a constant supply of fresh ice and only have to fill it with water occasionally. Looks great on the counter and I love it!
Cons:
A little noisy when it's in "make ice mode". But as soon as it's full it stops. Other than the noise (and it's really not THAT bad), I don't have any complaints.
We'll see how long it lasts....I'm a little worried from reading the reviews that it's not a long term item. Cross your fingers!
Also wanted to mention to future possible buyers: when you first start using it only water will cycle through it. There was a constant stream of water coming from where the ice was supposed to come so at first I thought it was broken right out of the box. Turns out this is normal. It's chilling the water and eventually it does start dumping ice pellets instead of water. It just would have been nice had they said that in the instructions so I didn't spend 15 minutes trying to figure out what was wrong with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked great, for 6 months now it just turns on and off by itself *updated*
Reviewed in the United States ???? on November 28, 2022

Purchased in May 2022 and now in November 2022 it has stopped working. It just keeps turning on and off and won’t make ice.
At first when it was off I kept hearing a noise and realized it was the fan turning on and off and the low water icon lighting up even though the unit had been off all week. I cleaned it out put in some water and tried the clean button but nothing happens when I push the clean button. I unplugged it for 20 minutes and tried to just turn it on and all it does is turn on and off and cycle the water but not make ice.
Updated 12/11/22
I contacted the seller through Amazon letting them know what was going on. They replied within 24 hours and asked me to go through the cleaning steps again, and it it was still not working to send a video of what it was doing. Sent the video and pics of the SN on the back and they sent me a new unit. I’ve spent the last 2 days testing the new unit and so far no issues with this one. Fingers crossed it lasts longer than 6 months.
There are still a few things I don’t like about the unit in general.
1. I hate that the on/off light blinks when it’s off. It should, be on when the unit is on and off when. Off. But instead it blinks when off.
2. I do not like that it does not continue to make ice if the ice in it has melted and filled up the reservoir again. On more than one occasion I have forgotten to dump the ice and it has melted. Unlike my old old unit that would just keep making ice over and over. This one requires that the lid be opened and closed to trigger that the water has been added. I guess it isn’t an issue if you have a water line going to the unit but I have to manually put water in it.
3. It is a bit loud. Granted all these types of ice machines are. But this one has a fairly loud hum to it that my old unit didn’t have.

So far a pretty good ice maker. It's on my outside bar in Florida, and yet still made decent ice amounts in the late summer and 90+ degree weather. Had it for 5 months now, and ever since it was new, the lid holds condensation in between the 2 clear plastic windows. Not sure if it's just mine? BUT...now the lights on the control panel buttons went out today- I sent an email to the mfg that appears in the owner's manual, since there is a 12 month warranty I would expect to have this unit replaced.
UPDATE: I have been going back and forth with someone at the manufacturer in China since my original post date. I am getting nothing but excuses and foot-dragging on replacement or refund under warranty. I provided them with a video of the issue at their request and I guess that wasn't good enough evidence. Now, I am being asked to wait and contact them back after Feb 2nd as everyone is celebrating "Spring Festival". After I remind them, then they will go to the engineers and I'll see what that gets me...

If you want ice, this machine is the ticket. However - it is louder than I would like. So loud I relocated it so I didn't have to listen to it for HOURS a day. Any time you open the lid to get ice (or for no reason) it starts making noise and keeps making noise for quite some time.
If you want something to be in the kitchen and not bug you, you may need a different machine.
I can't figure out how to simply turn it off if I don't want ice, even looking through the manual.... so that makes it even worse. If I could turn it off without unplugging it, I may be more pleased.

3.0 out of 5 stars broken pieces of blade in ice bin

I had a big problem with pieces of blade breaking off within 6 months of ownership. In fairness to the company, they gave me a full refund. They responded to me that after I had purchased my unit, they realized the problem and made a thickness change to the blade to improve it's rigidity. I have not evaluated this machine since the change, so I cannot testify if the changes were successful. The machine makes good ice and quick. It's a little noisy sometimes. Got worse after the blades were breaking.
I took the refund and bought another machine from another company. Will be able to compare the two different machines this way. The blades breaking is a very serious issue and something that had to be addressed. Getting this in your digestive system could cause serious injury. Thereye realized this and to their credit made a design change. If you order this, make sure that you only receive an item that was produced after the design change.
The company has said that they will refund or retrofit units built before the blade improvement.
I think that the company is very responsive in this manner but until I evaluate the blade integrity I can't give a rating higher than 3 stars.

EDIT: After posting my initial review below, the company reached out to rectify the situation. I was told the machine had undergone improvements due to others’ reviews and the newer models were not expected to work the same. They offered me a new machine or a refund. I opted for a refund as I already replaced my machine with the GE Profile model. I very much appreciate the refund I was given but I wish it didn’t need to come from a bad review. I rarely leave reviews so if I hadn’t been angry about how things went down, I would’ve still been out the money. I hope the sellers make it easier for customers to contact them in the future to get the help they need for a product. For their response and offer, I’m changing the number of stars from 1 to 3. I’d rate it higher if I would’ve been able to get help without writing a review first.
ORIGINAL 1 STAR REVIEW: Just like dozens of others are now reporting, it was great until now. First two months there were no complaints. Great ice, quick, easy to clean, reasonably quiet. Now it’s nothing like that. It’s constantly leaking, the water reservoir has a yellow tint to the water (even after cleaning), ice production is down, the lines freeze and it goes into defrost after a few minutes, and the squealing sound is unbearable. I had to mute a call, go to the other end of the house, and unplug the machine because it was disrupting a meeting. As others have mentioned, there is no way to get any help from the company and it’s too late to return to Amazon. Should’ve sprung for the GE.

UPDATED REVIEW: After returning the unit and leaving a one star review I had the company reach out to me to help resolve my concerns and hopefully improve my review. They state that they have changed seals in their manufacturing to resolve the common leak issue, I have no way to confirm that. I was also assured that they have an email address for customer service which can be found in the Q&A section of the posting or on the downloaded manual. The web address on the paper manual in the box was not functional. They have been very engaged in understanding and addressing my gripes with the product, and hoping that it will improve my rating. I have adjusted my review to three stars since they do seem motivated to resolve problems and improve the product. Hopefully the improvements are enduring.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Like many other reviews, my unit started to leak water all over the counter, after only 26 days of use. 3.0 out of 5 stars A nice counter-top nugget ice maker
Reviewed in the United States ???? on May 21, 2022

This is a great under $400 nugget ice maker. You remove the basket, add water, replace the basket, and turn it on. It starts making ice in about 15 minutes and will fill the basket in about 4-5 hours. When the basket is full it turns itself off. As the ice melts it drains through the basket into the water reservoir and the process starts again.
I bought this with the expectation that I would hook it up to my water filter and let it run 24x7. I was either going to leave it on my countertop or put it in a cabinet. I decided letting it run 24x7 was not a good idea - this thing is about as loud as a dishwasher and generates a lot of heat.
I ended up letting it run to produce a basket of ice, bagging the ice, and putting it in my freezer. Then I turn off the ice maker and empty it until I need more ice (every 2-3 days).
For the price point and size and it's a great product, just know and understand the limitations of this.
Edit - After using this for 5 days, I have come across a pretty bad flaw. If you turn the ice maker on and let it run, it will stop when the ice basket is full. Which is good. The bad part is that as the ice melts, and the level drops - the ice maker won't automatically restart. You have to open and close the lid to reset the maker and restart ice production.
Again - know what you're buying an understand if it fits your use case.

This is stemming from the ice freezing up inside itself and the motor weakens. After draining, cleaning, leaving it unplugged to thaw itself out (allowing it to drain for a couple days as it thaws from the inside), it still does the same thing. The rod in the center that the ice dispenses from seems to be freezing the water in the top of it, making a sheet of ice that the motor can't push the ice through.
I bought this in August and it's now December and doesn't work.
The manual has an email for support and a website. Both are non-existent. The website doesn't exist and the email bounces back as undeliverable.
Either the reviews here for a quick support were loaded with BS, or the company has recently went under. Either way, they stole $360 from me, because the product doesn't work as intended and no recourse to get it corrected.
Stay away from this one. Look up other nugget ice makers and explore their sites and see if support is there before buying, because this one is a lemon.

I’ve enjoyed this little ice maker, loved the idea of not needing to refill manually with water. We had a GE pebble ice maker that worked well for about three years and then started to leak so figured we’d give this a shot. It’s worked great up until recently. We bought in August and it’s now December (so we’ve gotten a solid 5 months of use out of it) but now it just overflows with water and won’t make ice. I suspect it won’t make ice simply because it thinks it’s out of water. When we purchased we also got an in line water filter to help mitigate any water issues. I’ve cleaned it, emptied it, and verified that the little magnet float is clean but nothing seems to help fix it. I’m hoping my review might help us get some advise on how to resolve. Everything I’ve read seems positive, great customer service said one post but I can’t find a number or a chat option to get some technical help. For anyone looking, I’d still recommend, but be a little worried about the longevity. I think 3-5 years should be about right for an ice maker and even longer if routine care is followed. I’d probably give this a full five stars if it still worked.

For the first 30 minutes, the ice maker is extremely noisy. There is a vibration on the side and if you gently press you hear the vibration stop, but, it does stop on its own within 30 minutes. I can't say it makes the amount of ice it describes as it takes 8 hrs of running just to get 2 gallons of ice. I usually run it 2 to 3 times a week just to keep up with my ice consumption. The ice is soft and doesn't melt as fast. Other than the above it's a good ice machine for the price.
update: Even after trying all the suggestions of troubleshooting from the company it now doesn't make more than a quart in 6 hrs. The company reached out to me and offered to replace it with a new model but that has been going on for a month. Plus, I now have a scammer by the name of Nasson Jeremy that says he is a rep for them and needs my address sent to my direct email and not by Amazon. This is sent from a personal ip address. Amazon has been very helpful with saying the company sends messages through them and the other is not a company rep. Not worth the money or the time to deal with the company. A refund is all I'll accept at this time.

The machine is LOUD. When I hold the side in, its less loud. But clearly I cannot do that ALL THE TIME. Something isn't set up right clearly. Yikes. I sent Thereye a video with the noise and they called it "resonant noise" and their solution to the new machine was "Tape can be used to wrap around the side of the machine, from the left side to the rear and then to the right side of the machine." I'm so disappointed. I want a machine that doesn't sound like that. And now my options are wrapping tape around my machine to make it look ugly but maybe be quieter or returning it - which means lugging this super heavy large box to the UPS store too. Clearly this is something wrong with their product.

I bought this pebble ice maker right before summer. For 5 months it worked great and my family loved it. Unexpectedly one morning it made a weird noise and began leaking. Every time water is added and turned on, it begins to leak. Upon removal of the back plate, I could see the leak coming from the components on the top and running down over the motor and compressor. Unfortunately it is in a location unreachable without completely dismantling the ice maker. For the price, I would hope it would have a longer shelf life than a few months.

I brought this ice maker 7/29/2022. I loved it when I first received it in August but now only almost 2 months later it does not work as it first did. It is now very slow making ice, I can no longer allow basket to fill up before dumping it into freezer basket because it will melt. Now I can only allow a quarter of the basket to fill up and I have to transfer it immediately to freezer basket. I spent over $300 for this ice maker and I wanted the nuggets instead of bullets. This was a waste of money. It is only worth maybe $80 to $100

The company will not stand behind their product. We were very pleased with the ice maker at first. The ice was great quality, flavor and production. However, after 7 1/2 months started having issues. It didn't product very much ice, it would say it needed water and the water was at the max line, it would say the ice bucket was full and stop producing ice and there would be little to no ice in the bucket (sensors weren't working properly). After several days of email exchanges with the company the ice maker quit working and then so did the company's email responses. Three failed attempts after notifying them that it had stopped working and I still haven't heard what the next step is. This product has a 1 year warranty and worked only 8. DO NOT BUY THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT!

I ordered this unit and it worked great for the first three weeks. I noticed water on my counter and realized the unit was leaking. Instead of returning, I asked for a replacement unit. I had hoped that the first unit leaking water was a fluke. The second unit (replacement) started leaking just after the 30-day mark. My family really enjoyed the ice maker when it was working correctly. Now, I am out over $300+ dollars. Very disappointed in the lack of service and that units are still shipping out to customers with an engineering flaw.

Several months after receiving the first unit, it slowly began to increase in noise level until we now have to turn it off after making ice. I emailed the company because they claimed a one year warranty but have yet to receive a response. The company finally responded and after back and forth emails, they sent me a new unit. Within several hours of proper set-up and start-up, the unit began to leak and a broken piece of metal was found in the ice basket. Back to square one: NO RESPONSE from the company. This stuff is just typical Chinese junk that is a waste of money to buy.
UPDATE: The company did provide a refund for the unit. In response, I agreed to their request to either delete or update this review.
It is a shame that WE have been taken in by the Chinese process of producing a poor quality product. it is at a lower cost to the end-user but it is always the case of "you get what you pay for."

I tried contacting the company before submitting this review, but no response after 2 weeks. It is supposed to have a 1 year warranty for defects, but need to report it to responsive company. They are not responsive. The screw at the top that sends the ice down has broken. The ice forms at the top and freezes up the machine.

The product was easy to hook up and get started with even when just adding water manually. Purchased June 29, 2022 and after 4 months of use (mid October) it started constantly wanting to do a clean cycle twice a week. Early November it started making loud noises (and this product was really quiet initially) and continued to want a clean cycle. Then November 29, 2022 it started heavily leaking from the bottom and at this time I had it directly connected to a water line. Other then searching on Amazon I can not find anything about this product either now that I can not find the manual. I will be looking into getting a refund because for 339.99 I would expect this to last a couple of years.

Ice was working great while in warranty. After 45 days as other people have commented the noise is extremely loud and happens randomly through the day. We have to clean it at least weekly to keep the taste good. Now we have a leak somewhere getting on our counter, and after hours of messing with it we are giving up. It should have a different place to fill the water rather than having to lift the basket out, set aside, and fill underneath. Not a huge deal but messy.
