Okay, so I know this is an "Air Bed" (super-sized mattress) and not a standard or "real" bed but I've tried a bunch of "real" beds and have consistently had lower-back pain when I got up each morning. In desperation I thought I couldn't lose by buying and trying this Air Bed. Changed my life!!! EXTREMELY comfortable ALL NIGHT LONG! As you can see from the pics, I use it differently than most: (a) I found the fabric side with the channels to be less comfortable than the bottom so I inverted it with wonderful results; (b) by inverting the bed, the fabric catches on the carpet better than the smooth side so it doesn't shift when I get on or off of it; and (c) I didn't want to have to deal with fitting sheets so I just bought an inexpensive sleeping bad and it worked perfectly. I have the twin xl version and a double sleeping bag fits just right. I use this EVERY NIGHT and have been doing so for weeks. I do have to top off the air each night for about 10 or 15 seconds as there is a tiny leak. I couldn't find any air escaping so I'm assuming it's getting out through the built-in fan assembly. No biggee, though. I highly recommend this critter!!

I purchased the air mattress so I could sleep downstairs until I recuperated from a knee injury. Going up the stairs to my bedroom was near impossible. One night, the mattress started to leak. I have no idea what caused it or where the leak was at. I sent a message to SoundAsleep explaining my issue. I asked if they could either replace the mattress or repair my current one since it was still under warranty. Casey in customer service responded within a couple of hours and said they had already ordered a new one for me and that it would be delivered within 4 days. I can’t remember the last time I received such great customer service from any company. They are a family owned business that obviously cares about the quality of their product and the satisfaction of their customers. After my great experience, I’m happy I purchased the product from them.
Mattress comfort? I got 10 hours of sleep the first time I used it!

Over the years we have tried several brands of inflatable mattresses (We are not young!) This SoundAsleep mattress has been the best overall.
Some pluses- it seems to be a little bit longer and wider than some other twin mattresses, the extra height is appreciated (be sure to get deep pocket sheets!), and it is easy to set up or take down.
We have had a couple of these mattresses, one died from a pet attack we were not successful in patching, bought a new one.
Recently developed a slow leak in the new one, couldn't find the source. Contacted customer service and spoke with Casey, she was very gracious and we were sent a replacement in short order.
Can't say enough how much the customer service from this family owned company is appreciated!

We have used several different sizes of the SoundAsleep Dream Series mattresses and have been impressed with them all. If you ‘condition’ the mattress before using it (fill, collapse, fill, collapse and then fill a third time) it works very well. Our first purchase wasn’t done this way because we didn’t know about it and ended up needing to be replaced. One time we got one that appeared to have bad seams, and we had the replacement within days. The most recent interaction with customer service was with ‘Casey’ and she was very nice to speak with and was knowledgeable about the products.
Kudos to Sound Asleep for great products, for standing behind what they sell, and for the outstanding customer service people.

The bed was used by a guest for several days with great review. I added a queen down-alternative mattress pad for a little added comfort and to keep at bay the inevitable chill that permeates from an air mattress. The bed was easy to inflate and deflate, and it held the air the whole time in use.
When I found a tear in one of the seams almost a year later, I contacted customer support. I received immediate kind assistance and replacement.
I would definitely recommend the bed for its comfort and ease of use, but especially for the customer service. They are a small business, and I could tell by their responsiveness and mediation, they cared about my product satisfaction.

I've had my mattress for a few months (since August 2022) and absolutely love it! It sleeps amazingly well, is comfortable and easy to inflate.
Last night, as I was laying in bed, I started sinking, LOL At first I thought I was imagining it, but no - as I sat up I noticed the mattress was slowly deflating. My first thought was I had punctured it somehow but, I couldn't imagine where - I was literally just lying there!
So, I got up, started pushing down on the mattress to see if I could hear air and sure enough, a slow hiss started coming from somewhere. I checked around the pump, on the sides - nothing. So, I pulled the mattress cover back and found a tiny rip at one of the seams on top of the mattress. I found one of the repair patches that came with the mattress (that's actually for the sides not the top) and put it on the hole. It held for about an hour or so before the mattress started slowly sinking again.
Thankfully, it's still under warranty so I submitted the request explaining what happened and what I did (which is super easy to do). I woke up to an email from Casey, letting me know they would deviate from their normal process of having me return the mattress for repair and that an order had already been submitted to send me a new one. When I tell you I was in tears!
My family and I are building a house and all my furniture is in storage so, I needed a good mattress to get me through the build. I was prepared to sleep on the couch or the floor for awhile, so this kind gesture really made me happier than I can say!
Many, many thanks to Casey and the SoundAsleep family, I am so very grateful for your generosity, it means so much to me!

We had an issue with our new twin air mattress. Originally I purchased the mattress and it had a minor leak. But I didn’t realize that it was not normal to have some leakage. The next time I used it after a couple of months the slow leak had become a major leak. Within 45 minutes the bed was flat. I thought I had wasted $123.00 dollars. But I decided to try customer service. Luckily I had kept the card with their company information. Casey at customer service was absolutely wonderful. A new air mattress is on it’s way and I am very happy.

Well I bought this mattress in July and used it once. I have had it stored since, but unfortunately when I went to use it this past weekend I found a small tear at the seam! UGH! I reached out to their customer service and within MINUTES they had a replacement order scheduled to send out! That's top notch!
Now onto the mattress - its firm and comfortable. I would recommend for use on occasion but obviously not full time. Easy to inflate and easy to use. Great mattress! Would recommend if you need an occasional mattress for guests!

I slept on it for several night and it was fine. didn't use it for a few nights, packed it away. went to use it again and it was fine for a couple of nights then it started to deflate. I check the mattress with bubbles and the only leak i found was around the air pump. It was in an area that couldn't be fixed with the patches.
I haven't even had it for a month yet.
I contacted the company, that is family run, and they bent over backwards to make thing right.

Casey from the seller’s customer service (The SoundAsleep Support Team) reached out to me to help and said they were happy to send me a new air mattress, and she let me know that I can remove the motor from the damaged item and put the pvc mattress portion in the recycling bin, which is helpful. She also explained that the air mattress is generally intended for occasional use, and that leaving it inflated for over 4 months would have contributed to stress the air mattress seams. She expedited our replacement mattress delivery and said I can expect it in a few days, which I appreciate.

Based on the reviews for this and other brands, it seems like, no matter what you spend on air mattresses, 5% or so have defects and leak when they are brand new. The first one I received did not seem to be holding air. They tell you these things stretch on the first inflation and to top them off a few hours later. Well, after doing this every 6-8 hours for 2 days, I gave up and returned it.
The second one had no problems. Filled it up, waited a few hours, and topped it off. This time it held air for the six days we had company with zero leakage. People that slept on it said it was very comfortable. As all air mattresses have a rather bumpy top, we decided to put a 1-inch memory foam pad on top. Once we did, this felt just like a regular mattress. The height is great. As described, the mattress is firm even when you are sitting on the edge. Just remember to get "deep pocket" sheets. Inflation and deflation with the built in pump was quick and easy. Comes with a nice storage bag.
So, if you are buying an air mattress, plan ahead and get it about 2 weeks before you need it AND as soon as it comes, inflate it, wait a few hours and top it off. If it is getting soft within 24 hours, just return it and get another one. You probably won't have the same problem again. If you wait, the first person using it might wake up sleeping in a hot-dog bun shaped mattress and it might be too late to return it. :-)

Just took out of box, did come well packaged and protected. Wanted to make sure it had no holes in it before guest sleeps on it. It's for my son's room which has reduced space but the twin xl fits perfect. I inflated to be firm. Not sure if you can tell by pictures but the center part of mattress what is inside the border is firm but the outside part stayed soft. Kind of like a real mattress I guess when you sit on edge of most mattress they are softer. Been laying on it for a bit to see how comfortable it is. It does have the plastic smell, reminds me of a beach ball smell or floats, but for being right out of box it is not strong smell. I also like that the top is felt, so don't think I'll be getting a mattress topper. Was considering one cause I personally hated sleeping on the plastic that would cause fitted sheet to slide around while sleeping. It is a good height, not too low where I would struggle to get in and out of it. We bought to be mostly used by a child so don't think height will be issue anyway. Gave it 4 stars for now since I don't know of durability. So far I would recommend.

Sometimes the measure of the quality of a product is not necessarily in each item as much as it is in the item and in the company that stands behind the product. Every company can have a problem, no matter how good the company is or how diligent they are in inspection. The difference is in how they react to a problem when it arises. As most people are familiar with, a lot of warranties are not worth the paper they are written on or the cyber space they take up. How many times have you read a warranty that requires you to mail a product back at your expense and that the shipment has to be insured and track able? Too many times I am sure to the point where you probably do not think much about trying to have something fixed when it breaks since the shipping can be more than the value of the product, not to mention the time and aggravation trying to get a RMA for the product.
Imagine my surprise when I received not only two e-mails, but a phone call from the president of the company on SUNDAY because he was concerned about my issue with his product! Not only that, but he really wanted the product back so that his people could figure out what the problem was so that they could correct it!! How easy it would be to just ignore the problem or take the least expensive way out and just call the problem a fluke. Instead, he wanted to ensure that the problem could be identified and rectified!!! He even is sending a prepaid sticker for the return of the item.
Because of all of the efforts being made to not only make me happy, but to ensure a quality product, I have moved my review back to the original 4 star rating. I will adjust that if time and circumstances warrant it.

Update: 18 May 2014
Ok, it has been just over two months since I started using this bed and it failed spectacularly tonight! Just after midnight the top of the mattress let go with a circular opening (right around the area that the circles on the top are) that is about 5 inches long. Interesting way to wake up with the mattress collapsed around you. This is NOT a way to become impressed.
A couple of things to note:
1. This mattress has only been used by me.
2. I had a two inch memory foam cover on top of the mattress because I did not like the feel of the circles in the mattress.
3. This bed has NOT been abused in any way. No, there are no kids that could have jumped on it or anything like that.
So, at this point, I would NOT recommend this mattress. Since I have house guests, I will need to go out and get a new mattress tomorrow. For now, I will sleep on the floor!!
I will update this if there is anything to add.

I needed a better bed than the futon we had provided, so I thought I would give this a try. Here is what I liked:
1. Light weight and folds into a small package for storage.
2. Built in air pump that does a great job filling the unit. It also has a setting to remove the air from the mattress when you want to pack it back up.
3. Felt like cover on the top is much nicer than dealing with straight vinyl.
4. The bed is comfortable when it is inflated fully as long as you put a pad (I used a two inch memory foam top) to cover up the rolls on the top of the bed. They are a bit uncomfortable for me without the pad.
Here is what I did not like as much:
1. When you first inflate the bed there is a VERY strong vinyl smell!!! It takes 5 to 6 days to get the smell to get to a point where it is tolerable. It eventually seems to go away, but you might want to ensure you inflate this an air it out for several days before using it.
2. As others have mentioned, you need to keep filling it up every day for about a week. It seems that the material does some stretching before it gets to a shape it will hold. Just so that you know, it starts out as a rectangle shape and as it stretches, it becomes a little more like a circle in that the ends and middle parts stretch out.
3. After the bed has stretched, it seems to need to have a bit of air added to it every 4 to 5 days. It does not take more than a minute to do this, but you should be aware of it. It does not go flat, it just gets a little bit on the soft side. More noticeable when you sit on the edge of the bed as when you are getting up or first getting in.
4. A fitted sheet does not really want to stay on. I took care of this by passing two elastic bands under the bed (one at each end) that had clips and attached those clips to the fitted sheet. Not perfect, but does an adequate job.
5. This is still lower than a regular bed would be by about two to three inches.
Overall, I a happy with the bed and it will serve its function as something to use on an intermittent basis.
