First let me say I don’t normally take time to write reviews but I just had to share my story because I’m still giddy about how well this machine worked.
I recently purchased a beautiful cream, designer chair at a furniture consignment shop and the lighting must have been bad in the store because I didn’t notice at all that it was quite dirty. I was just so excited that it was exactly what I had been looking for - color, size, style and price!
When I got it home it was perfect in every way EXCEPT the off-white that was so perfect in the fluorescent lighting was a dingy EWWW in the natural light of our living room. I took the armrest covers off and YUCK! I noticed how dirty the arms were and then noticed that I hadn’t looked that closely on the store - there were spots all over the chair!
The store doesn’t take returns AND I loved everything about the chair except the grime and spots (how did I not notice those in the store???) so I googled best upholstery cleaner and the BISSELL Little Green Machine showed up as top-rated in multiple blogs so I searched for it on Amazon. It had awesome reviews confirming what the blogs has said so I ordered it.
It came super-fast and was easy to set up. I got to work. Well, my sweet husband got to work. My plan was to have him handle the task as he’s usually in charge of the grimy stuff. Love that man. ????
Well I had no idea cleaning upholstery could be so fun! This little machine sucked the grime right out! It was really satisfying to see it get sucked out right before my eyes. Before my husband knew it, he was free to watch his baseball game because I had taken over.
When I was finished the cream chair looked like new!
And I didn’t stop there.
I had a 14-year old blue chair in my home office that had weathered two babies, lots of journaling and phone conversations with my feet tucked up underneath me, latte spills and just…a full life! Our whole family loves mommy’s blue chair as it’s where good conversations and snuggles have happened my kids’ entire lives. When we recently remodeled our home I was looking for a new chair for myself. My whole family protested because they loved it so much. It bummed me out because - well LOOK at the “before” photos of the blue chair I posted. Our whole house was clean and fresh from the much-needed after 17 years in the house remodel. Having to look at that chair, as much as I loved the memories of it, grossed me out.
So when I finished the cream chair I thought, I’m going to see what the BISSELL Little Green Machine could do for the blue chair. I figured, worst case scenario it would make it worse and then I’d HAVE to get my new chair. ??
I honestly didn’t think it would make a difference. I had actually had a professional rug + upholstery cleaner look at it and say he couldn’t do anything to make it look better just two months ago during the remodel. So despite seeing the INCREDIBLE results on the cream chair, my expectations were low. Additionally, this was an inexpensive chair with a sueded microfiber fabric - not nearly as well made as the cream chair so I wasn’t sure if the not super-sturdy fabric would withstand the cleaning fluid or brush.
I was blown away. As you can see by the Before and After photos - the BISSELL mighty little machine did an amazing job!!! The blue chair is saved and we are ALL excited. Yes, even me. ?? I just wish I would have taken videos of cleaning the blue chair - the water was SO dirty. GROSS!
Again though, it was SO satisfying throughout the process to see the dirt come out and have brand new chairs.
This machine is WELL worth the very reasonable price and I also absolutely love being able to restore two chairs rather than buy new ones. Less landfill and consumerism to help the planet. And the pocketbook!!!
A little technique scoop (if you’re still reading) - on the cream chair we sprayed the cleaning water from the machine on the area, then sprayed Resolve and let it sit for a minute or two before we sucked up the dirt. The Resolve did make the dirty water in the tank pretty foamy and I’m not sure if it could damage the machine or the chair but when we tried it we were kind of thinking we didn’t have anything to lose as the fabric was so grungy when we got it home to natural light, we would not have kept the chair if the BISSELL didn’t work. The machine seems totally fine and of course the chair is now clean and beautiful!
I could not possibly love this little machine more and now I can feel much more confident with all of our new carpet and furniture because if we get a spill or a stain this lightly little green machine will take care of it!
I highly recommend the BISSELL Little Green Machine!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really works, but you must go over stains multiple times for best results!

This product isn’t a miracle worker, but if you have a little time to commit to cleaning, it really works wonders. I did go over the stains multiple times, and was shooketh and bewildered to witness how much power/suction this little guy has. The extracted crap that comes up will disgust and horrify you. I have an 11 pound Jack Russell Terrier that is so great with pottying outside, but on the days where I’m working 10 hour days and unable to come home on lunch to take him out, he has a tendency to do his business right NEXT TO the puppy pads. Enter the Little Green Machine. I made my own cleaning solution at home using a tablespoon of Folex, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, 2 cups of white vinegar, and hot water. The first pic is a before and after of a coffee stain by my nightstand that has been set in for over a week. The second pic is the top of my staircase where Hank has been tinkling. I’m pleasantly surprised with the ease of use and cleaning power of this thing. It did take me an hour or two to do both areas pictured just because I went over and over and over it, but it saved me money and I’m very pleased with the results. This may have taken less time with an enzymatic cleaner, but I was so tired of waiting and too lazy to go to the store to get it, so I went with my own DIY concoction. The ONLY complaint I have is how quickly the tank fills up and how many times you have to empty it. I finally got a bucket to dump all the nasty water into, to avoid going back and forth to the bathroom to dump the dirty water down the toilet. However, I know this is meant for small projects and the top of my staircase is a fairly large area, so I don’t know that one would have that problem with a smaller cleaning project. BUY this. You won’t regret it????

I had bought a brand new memory foam mattress from Costco, paid dearly for it and my dog decided it was the perfect place to pee…. Twice. Never had that problem in all the years but the new mattress was the item to get violated. After contemplating dog murder over a glass of wine, I decided to take the higher road and figure out a way to clean the mattress instead. I had sprayed oxy clean on the mattress first to make sure there’d be no stain on the once pristine white surface but I feel like that was unnecessary. This machine could have cleaned it in its own. The sprayer is very slow BUT the suction is excellent. Only downside is that the one tank leaks a little into the well that it sits in until the rubber washer seal flexes and holds tight. Great buy and new friend. Too bad it’s an ugly color but it does exactly as it should.

Very happy with the purchase. I just cleaned my carpeted stairs (light beige color) and it looks brand new! It did take me quite a while to complete the process but I wasn’t expecting to do it faster anyways. When cleaning carpet you will need to go over dirty areas many times, I suggest going over once to make it wet and rough it up with the brush, for a tough spot add a little icy booster and let it sit for a few minutes while working on another area, then come back to the previous spot and go over it again. Very happy with the results!

This vacuum, because of how so good it leaves my furniture, makes me wanna clean everything. When I go clean furniture, I don’t dread the cleaning part, I look forward to using the vacuum because of how efficient it is for me. I cleaned furniture that has not been cleaned for 5 years. Most of the stains were from cigarettes. The furniture went from a dirty brown to an off white color. The original color of the furniture is white.

After 4.5 years, my blue couches had collected a lot of dust and dirt. They were even starting to turn a gray color in certain places and I considered either bringing the cushions to the dry cleaner or getting a professional in to see what they could do.

I will admit, it took 2-3 tries in some areas to really get the fabric clean. Doing big/general areas as opposed to cleaning a single stain takes a lot of patience with only a 3” tool. But after letting the couches dry, I was truly in awe at how they began to look brand new again! The cushions even have their firmness back. This thing saved me a TON of money in professional cleaning and I’m so grateful!

I bought this for keeping up with a new puppy, I've ended up using it everywhere. This little vacuum has been great for puppy messes. I also used it to clean my couch cushions, they look brand new. Then I used it for my floormats in my car, they too look new. I had a few rough spots on the carpeted stairs that were almost a year old, this pulled them up in one session. Would highly recommend.

I purchased the Bissell Green Machine because I needed to clean some furniture so I could sell them, and I needed to find an effective way to clean the seats in my car. I am so impressed with the results of the Green Machine!!! The futon I had that hadn't been cleaned in over 12 years was transformed into the futon it was when my parents bought it. Very impressive! I also had to clean the upholstery on a couch that I have. I had dogs, and one of them really enjoyed drying herself off on that couch after she had a bath. Well, lo and behold, the Green Machine sucked up all the oil and water spots on that couch. Again...impressed!!! The only drawback has been the attachment that comes with the Machine free of charge that is used to do the cleaning. It cannot be cleaned out easily as its cover cannot be taken off to rinse out any hair or dirt clumps. The only way to rinse it is to run water through it for a very long time to try to dislodge any hair or dirt. But the cleaning quality of this machine is superior!!!

I don’t typically ever write reviews, in-fact, this is my very first review on Amazon. However, I HAD to RAVE about this amazing miracle worker. I have a toddler whom has turned my chairs into my worst nightmare. I’ve tried every cleaning product but everything would just leave a ring & end up making it look worse. I purchased this product PRAYING it would do the trick. I’ve been needing something like this anyway for my couches, so I bit the bullet & bought it. To say I’m impressed is an UNDERSTATEMENT. It was so quick and easy & I can’t wait to use my new toy again, oddly. I did have trouble spraying it for the first time but I researched my issue, and found that sometimes the tubing can get kinks so I had to unassembled a small part of it but it was a quick and easy fix. Definitely recommend this product.

I purchased this Little Bissel last June but didn't actually start using it until this past week. Back in the 90s, I had a much earlier model of the Little Bissel and really loved it but after I got rid of carpet, I found I wasn't using it, so gave it away. These days, while I no longer have carpeting, I do have rugs plus a senior citizen doggie (20 1/2 years old). This past week, my little senior citizen's potty issues got bad, so I finally whipped out this Bissel. It's been fabulous in helping clean up those accidents. In addition, I've been able to clean up some old food stains, from furniture. I'm really glad that I picked this up even though it took me a few months to start using it. My only complaint is that the water / solution tanks seems to drip liquid when turning upside down to place into the machine. Otherwise, it is perfect.

I remember my mom using this when I was a child, and am very happy that I now own one. It is the perfect size for spot cleaning and can be carried anywhere. It has great suction power. After cleaning, the carpet is barely damp. It is not too noisy either. My only complaint is that my unit only came with the small head attachment, and I would have prefered the larger one. The manual shows 3 different ones, but then says that attachments will vary and may or may not come with the one you purchased. Oh well, it is not a deal breaker, as this is still a great product that will get lots of use in this house.

My new landlord hesitantly agreed to allowing my animals because there was carpet in the home. I knew I had to prepare, and bought this at a discount around Black Friday.

Not only am I able to pull up immediate pet accidents with EASE, but I am pulling up stains that were here before me. The suction is good enough to leave the carpet barely damp to the touch when you’re all said and done.

Read the instructions, there is minimal assembly, and you will need a screwdriver. The spray nozzle also needs to be primed before it will spray water (and that was a learning curve for me).

I take my clean tank out upon storing. I noticed it had leaked out a bit when I left the clean tank full in storage previously. This isn’t a problem for me personally, but it’s why I rate 4 stars instead of 5.

If you're looking for something to clean an entire rug, this isn't it. But if you're looking to clean upholstery or small carpeted areas this is great. I used this for carpeted stairs and it did a great job of cleaning them, and was super convenient to carry up and down due to the light weight. I plan to use it for my car upholstery and couch next. The brush is only about 3" (so again, not for large rugs), but the option exists to buy larger attachments separately. The bottle of cleaner it came with is enough to fill more than two tanks but it is scented which is something to consider if you're sensitive to fragrances.

3.0 out of 5 stars Needs redesign
Reviewed in the United States ???? on December 14, 2022

All these people "in love with this machine" will be less "in love" after they've used it a bit. Yes, at first it's a big help cleaning up spills and pet messes. The nozzle is designed such that it can't be taken apart for cleaning. A permanently attached clear plastic cover that displays all the grimy disgusting dirt clinging inside it that can't be cleaned out. You can try tiny bent brushes, pipe cleaners, even pressure washing it with a dental irrigator, you won't be able to get it clean, ever! And then the waste pickup tank. It, too, is manufactured permanently shut, so you don't have access to adequately clean it out either. You can pour scalding hot water through it, fill it up and shake the daylights out of it, but you won't be able to remove all the grime and carpet fiber crud and smell out of it. Just have to do the best you can and then set it aside, unassembled, so it can dry out as much as possible to prevent mold and mildew forming and have a stinking odor the next time you start it up. The cleaning concentrate tank isn't much better either. This is designed such that after you've filled it up, you need to flip it over to install it in the machine and it squirts the fluid out all over the place until you get it firmly seated in the machine. How did any of this ever get through any kind of marketing and usability testing before going into production? Every time I've used it, I've had to spend more time trying to clean up the Little Green Machine as best I can then I did cleaning up the actual mess I needed it for in the first place. Bissell needs to redesign the nozzle and the waste tank so they can be adequately cleaned so you don't have a stinky odor every time you start it up. Look at the included photos of the nozzle and waste tank to see how bad it looks even after trying to clean it out.

1. Gets the job done
2. Stylish, compact enough to make storage easy
3. Great for spot cleaning only

CONS
1. Does NOT work unless plugged in (you def need an extension chord bc it’s compact and the chords/hose do not extend far) - unfortunately I live in an apartment and can’t use it on my car bc where would I plug it in?? I thought I could charge it and it works until it dies but not the case
2. Have to go over tough stains multiple times

It’s definitely a vacuum where you are on your hands a knees. Will I return? No. But would I buy again? No. I need something that doesn’t need to be plugged in to operate.

TLDR: not a steam cleaner, limited usefulness, leaves a lot of wet behind, hard to clean and dry for storage. Have towels nearby when using.

Full review:

I bought this for carpeted stairs, upholstery, and cleaning the carpet in my vehicle. So far I have used it on carpeted stairs and the vehicle carpeting.

It works okay on these, but just okay. The little green machine can be frustrating to use, and is limited by having only one cleaning attachment (other than the one meant for rinsing the hose afterwards). The addition of a crevasse tool for tight spaces (like where step meets riser, or around contours of a car floor) and a gentler brush head for more delicate upholstery fabric could expand this machine's range of use.

The machine is frustrating to fill. To do so the user must turn the solution bin upside-down, and again must upend it to put the bin into the machine. The bin leaks whenever this is done, leaving a messy slipping hazard to deal with, both when filling the solution bin and when emptying it or changing the water.

There aren't separate bins for the cleaning solution and clean water, so the user must empty the leftover solution from the bin, rinse it out, and refill with clean water in order to rinse solution from the area cleaned. This causes waste of solution and water. To counter this in the future I will put the diluted cleaning solution in a spray bottle to apply it, and use this machine to extract and rinse only.

The machine's hose is okay in length, but it would be nice to have a hose extension, especially for use on stairs. As it is I have to keep it one step below the step I am working on, which gets tricky at times.

The little green machine is difficult to clean and get thoroughly dry for storage. The cleaning head does not come apart and debris (yes, even thoroughly vacuumed carpet still releases fibers when being scrubbed) gets caught inside and trapped in a couple of places where no amount of rinsing will dislodge it. Similarly the dirty water tank can't be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned, so muck gets caught in there, too. Once emptied and rinsed to the best of my ability the machine's parts must be laid out for at least a full day in good air flow to dry out before being put away for storage, or mildew begins to form.

The machine does not heat the water at all, so the only heat the user has for cleaning is from what they put in the solution tank. If you are looking for a steam cleaner this is not it.

While it does extract I do wish for stronger suction. My carpet (berber) takes more than a day to dry, so I have to do my stairs in halves (left and right) so we can still use the stairs.

It works okay and I can't afford to replace it with something else, so I'll keep it. If I could have borrowed one to try before buying I would not have bought this.

Although the cleaner is a sturdy and adequate cleaner (though nothing extra special about it), it had one annoying feature for me. After you fill the water tank you need to tip it upside-down to set it into the base on the side of the cleaning machine. EVERY time you do this, some water leaks out and gets things wet. Also, when you remove the tank it does the same thing. Be careful moving the machine, because there is always a bit of water sitting in the bottom of the base and if you tip it or move it it, the water leaks out. I found this very annoying.

This little machine does a great job cleaning, but there are a lot of usability issues in cleaning the device after use. I agree with the review by Greg S but wanted to add one more area that drives me crazy and makes me NOT wanted to recommend this product even though it does a great job cleaning.
There are two reservoirs; one is for the clean soapy water and one is for the dirty used water. You fill the clean water reservoir from the BOTTOM, so before you start you flip it upside down to open and fill it. The dirty reservoir is meant to be emptied from the TOP and doesn't seal as to let the vacuum air pressure escape. I understand the need for this design, however every time I have used this I automatically flip the dirty reservoir upside down to empty, but all of the dirty water empties out all over the floor and myself because it's not sealed and it's open from the top... I guess I love the machine until it comes time to not use it anymore and i am soaking wet with dirty water. Just an FYI.

2.0 out of 5 stars Caution:May ruin your wood floors
Reviewed in the United States ???? on December 11, 2022
Style: Little GreenVerified Purchase
Like everyone else we purchased it to help with removing the occasional dog mess on the rug, clean stairs, upholstery, etc. It does an average job on all those areas.

My caution to you is that if you use the unit on a rug the liquid may/will bleed through the rug to the wood floor (if you have a wood floor). If not dried off this could result in damage to that area of the floor.
What we do is first insert a towel under the area of the rug to be cleaned, this absorbs any excess liquid. And slightly elevate the rug to allow it to dry quicker.

On large rugs bordered by couches and chairs this putting a towel under the rug becomes impractical as we would have to move too much furniture.

Summary: the machine can do a reasonable job on simple messes but we found it to fail on anything that was older and set in. Doing it over we would not purchase the unit, we find that Capture spray & powder or other methods (baking soda & white vinegar, etc) work as well or better.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great but it leaks

My dog was sick in the morning and so I left it out near a towel. Unsure if my dog was going to get sick again I left it out and came back hours later to put it away and the towel had been soaked through due to the thing leaking. The leaking claims on the reviews are real and it will most likely happen to you to. It’s a bummer. I have not been rough in the machine in any way and have not used it too much. I will still keep the item because I have to it’s been too long for a refund. But will be very careful where I set it while using it, will always use a towel under neath and will remove the tanks if they have liquid in them. I would not repurchase. There has to be a simpler design out there.

Gets 2 stars cause it worked perfectly for the first 3 weeks. However, a week ago I opened up the tank to prepare to clean and the parts inside fell apart - disintegrated is more like it. No water or solution was left in the tank, everything was dry. I attempted to contact Bissel customer support TWICE but there has been zero response.

2.0 out of 5 stars HARD TO CLEAN, POOR SUCTION, NEWER HEATED MODEL AVAILABLE
Reviewed in the United States ???? on July 24, 2022
Style: Little GreenVerified Purchase
Well, this model apparently is different from previous models because it is extremely difficult and kind of impossible to clean the head because there are NO REMOVABLE PARTS to clean inside it. That little clear plastic shield bit does not come off, I have to use a dental water pic to try and shoot water through the narrow gap to dislodge debris inside it so if you don't have a water pic I don't know what you'll be able to do. The suction power is also lackluster, it leaves the carpet pretty darn damp. The user manual says to use hot tap water in the tank but.... um... that full tank lasts me over a month. There's no measuring instructions for how to fill it with smaller quantities so you'll get a clean with nice hot water the day you fill the tank but unless you dump it all out and refill it after every use, you're gonna be using tepid water. Or wing it with the measurements and hope you don't oversoap your carpet.
***If you still want it though, don't buy this one buy the newer model that is only $10 more and has a water HEATING feature. It's called Pro Heat. It's on the Bissell website. It's too late to return mine.***

After 2 months of use, the machine started to smell horrible every time I used it. I would clean and disinfect the tank after each use and cleaned the hose and spray nossell several times as well. Still the horrible smell would persist.

Then it stopped working all together.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not really useful for set in stains

I was enticed to purchase this by the TV ad of the woman and her older pet that got overexcited. It shows her getting out this machine and removing the stain quite easily.

The key thing to notice about that is how quickly she seemed to start working on the stain. I've found that if the stain has dried overnight this machine doesn't have enough power to remove it. If you try to scrub it with the attached brush it just spreads the stain further. If you have a sneaky pet and you don't notice the stain right away you're too late to effectively clean it.

The upright cleaners also have a rotating brush that helps remove the solution/stain mix from the carpet that this lacks. Also a LOT more suction at the head.

I also encountered the leak from the bottom of the unit that leaves the spots of solution/stain liquid under it, making another 3 stains to clean up. It's funny that, like the other users, it worked perfectly the first time. It was only on the second use that the leaks showed up. I think the instructions on cleaning the machine should tell you to empty and clean the dirty water tank and then run clean water thru it with the cleaning nozzle as I noticed some dirty water under the tank when taking the tank out after using the remaining solution to clean the hose. I did that after the 3rd use and didn't get the leaks after the 4th use.

All in all, not what I was expecting when I purchased this. I should return it but threw away the box so I'm stuck...

2.0 out of 5 stars OK product, if it doesn't stop working

I've had this almost 2 years to the date. It did an OK job with stuff that didn't have bad stains like getting dirt off our outdoor cushions. I've used this maybe 6-7 times in the two years, and today I noticed when using it the suction was light and the tank that holds the dirty water wasn't filling up at all. After a lot of troubleshooting I couldn't figure it out. Called customer service and they gave some tips but eventually said it sounds like there's something wrong with the machine. They said since it's not under warranty there's nothing they can do other than give us a 20% discount if we purchase directly from them (which is basically the same price Amazon has it.) Sorry, I don't want to rebuy a new product when the old one broke after a handful of uses... I will be avoiding Bissell products from now on.

2.0 out of 5 stars Low power, hard to clean, bad design choices
Reviewed in the United States ???? on November 12, 2022

First, the good (what little there is): the overall packaging is nice and easy to carry. The hose and cord stow away nicely. The clean water/soap tank is clearly marked with fill lines.

Now the rest:
The brush attachment (pictured) is impossible to fully clean and collects disgusting stuff in its corners.

The suction power is pathetic, and you'll be scrubbing for a long time after spraying to get all the dirty water out.

The wastewater tank empties through an open hole in the top, and I've accidentally spilled it twice as a result. (The clean water tank fills from the bottom; the wastewater goes into the bottom of its tank but it's emptied from the top).

It's better than using a rag, but still very time consuming and never really fully cleans things.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor design

Has such a big name, but be warned, it’s so poorly designed. Hair or any lint Quickly collects in the suction nozzle and you can’t even fit a qtip in to pull it out. It’s absurd. Of course , even after vacuuming first, you’re going to pick up carpet debris or pet hair. There is a brand that is intelligently made where the nozzle comes apart for cleaning. Look for that one. This one is so frustrating to try to clean. Also you can’t get the dirty water inserts clean either & it starts to smell badly, even the suction leaves a lot to be desired. Can fill the clean water and soap side work on your rug, and only suck up about 1/4 in the dirty side. I hope Amazon will post this review as a warning. I am unable to return as past the date but please don’t be fooled by the name brand. Get the one whose nozzle you can take apart with higher suction rating. I don’t know if I can mention the name here, but at least post what to look for ok?

1.0 out of 5 stars Suction quit in a year
Reviewed in the United States ???? on March 2, 2023

The suction stopped working a little under a year after purchase. I tried to take it apart and look at the hose, but the hose is impossible to get to and has an awkward bend at the end enclosed in hard plastic. Why they don’t allow easy access to check the hose is beyond me. I managed to get it to a repair shop under warranty. They switched out the hose, although I didn’t find any cracks. The machine had good suction for one or two jobs, and then quit again. No more warranty - not worth fixing again, since I still don’t know what’s wrong and it’s no longer under warranty. Admittedly, it will pull water out of a bowl when fully submerged, but the suction is not strong enough to pull water out of upholstery - it will sloosh around in the nozzle and then drop the water out when you pick it up. Sigh - I really wanted to love this

1.0 out of 5 stars Suction doesn't suck

Major disappointment. I expected better from Bissell. But I guess even the old quality brands have started to trade quality for profit. My 5 year old feel asleep on the couch and had an accident. The pet urine cleaner just didn't get rid of the smell, so I bought this because it's Bissell and had tens of thousands of good reviews.

Easy to put together. So far it hasn't leaked, like many bad reviews have said. I read the instructions several times before starting. I spray like instructed and started sectioning the area. A little did suck up, not much. After spending 20 minutes going over the area again and again from every possible angle there is a small skim of dirty water in the reservoir and the couch is still soaked where I sprayed. I thought maybe it'll do better on a rug (although I bought for upholstery because I already have a carpet shampooer), so I sprayed a couple spots I've been meaning to get to, let the solution sit a few minutes the started sectioning. Some of the cleaning solution sucked up, not much. The spots didn't come up either and my carpet is still pretty damp in those areas. And dirty water reservist doesn't have anywhere near enough in it for how much was sprayed out and I kept going over everything until there was no more indication liquid was being sucked up.

1.0 out of 5 stars Design issues: This leaks dirty water and impossible to completely clean it
Reviewed in the United States ???? on May 21, 2021

Unfortunately the design of this thing is such that it "seals" from the bottom. The supply chamber you have to turn upside down, remove the nozzle, fill, then tighten the nozzle back up and turn it upside down. It will leak a few drops, so you have to wait for the drops until you attach it, and it seems like no matter how quickly or slowly you attach it, some (clean) water will leak out.

The most unfortunate part is that it also leaks on the dirty water side. I have 4 dogs, so I'm not cleaning up the most pleasant of messes. This morning's "surprise gravy" was cleaned up by this thing just fine, but when I picked it up, there was a few spoonfuls of poop water that had leaked out underneath it! Even 1 spoonful of poop water is too much.

Also, the compartments and nozzle attachment are sealed but have all kinds of places where particles and hair will get trapped. This is just a confounding design issue as the leaking compartments. How did the designers not know this thing would suck up animal hair and small particles? And that the hair and particles would get trapped in the myriad of mysterious mechanisms that are SEALED inside the dirty water compartment? There is no way to open it up to clean it, you have to pour clean water through the little tab at the top, shake the dirty water around and hope none comes out.... and the seal for the tab is on the machine, so you have to use your hand to seal the compartment (yuck) then pour it out and hope all the particles and hair come out as well.

My neighbor also has the more advanced one of these things with the rotating wheel, and he left his dirty water compartment on the machine but closed the seal by accident, and now his stinks like mold or mildew.

These things are just horribly designed. Excellent price and the nozzle and pump seem to work great, just everything else is unfortunately bad!

1.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelmed me

I really like to have things clean. Dingy furniture, visible footpaths in carpet, dirty car seats are all things I am always trying to clean. I was hopeful that this machine might do better than other methods I've tried in the past. I used it for a few projects right away and convinced myself that it was worth keeping. I just got it out again tonight. Very underwhelming. Not only did it not clean general dirt, it didn't clean little spots in the carpet that I'm certain I could have gotten out with a cloth, water and elbow grease. I think I was hopeful that this might be a home version of a commercial extraction machine. It is not. I used it for several minutes and the disposal tank was dry, even though I had sprayed quite a bit of water solution. So far, Woolite Carpet and Upholstery Cleaner is the best solution for general grime on textiles that I have found. My wife spilled tea on our white fabric couch. Woolite got it out without much fuss. Buy Woolite. Skip the pretend extractor.

We wanted desperately to like this product, as it seemed like a sensible answer to renting a steam cleaner for our floor rugs and carpets. We have four dogs and the dirt builds up, so when I saw the reviews on this it looked perfect. It arrived, we set it up and following the instructions, got to work on one of our rugs. The water/soap mix came out fine, but the brush and head that came with the unit did NOTHING to lift the dirt at ALL and the rug looked the exact same way when we finished, as it did when we started. Total waste of money ... we sent it back.

I purchased the Bissell Littlegreen Shampooer in November 2021. I did not use it for several months. Last summer (2022) I used it for the first time on a chair. The sprayer was kind of dripping the whole time but did an OK job. Chair really wasn't that dirty. Pulled it out today ( only 2nd time to use it) to use on a rug runner. The clean water tank leaked all over my wood floor. To finish the job I filled the tank up again, put plastic down then a towel to soak up the water. Used two tanks and cleaner to clean a 2 x 7.5 rug runner. More water leaking on the floor than getting sprayed on the carpet. What a disappointment!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Worked great at first- fundamental design flaw makes it leak after a few months.

I bought this product in August 2019 because I was dogsitting for a dog that was urinating all over my house. It DID work well when I first bought it. The suction was great, and it completely got up all the urine. It was a little cumbersome to clean, carry around, and put back together, but for saving my rugs and my sanity, it was worth it. I used it consistently for about a week. Cleaned it as directed and stored it away until I needed it again in Oct.

October 2019- Took it out to use it on a dirt stain and immediately noticed the suction was not as great as it was in August, and that my rug was left wetter from a small leak in the bottom of the main compartment. Stain was removed though. Cleaned it as directed and stored it away until I needed it again in Dec.

December 2019- Took it out to clean a lipstick stain on my daughter's mattress. Water trickled out from the bottom of the main compartment, soaking her mattress. Suction was terrible. Stain remained.

All would have been forgotten except that I could no longer return it for a full refund because the window had passed. A very helpful Amazon CR called Bissell and stayed on the line with me as I stated my case. First person I pleaded my case to from Bissell denied me a refund claiming company policy, because I purchased from Amazon... His supervisor also denied a refund claiming the same cooperate baloney. I stated that there are tons of reviews that claim there is a fundamental design flaw where the cleaner leaks after a several uses- No, was the answer to my refund. (Before getting off the phone she asked if there was anything else she could help me with? "HELP?!?!" Really?! (Insert eye roll emoji).

Frustrated, seething, and not ever going to get the 45 mins back that I'd wasted on the phone with Bissell, I strongly urged the kind Amazon CR who stayed on the line with me through the entirety of this ordeal to refund my money to which she did.

So buyers...beware. Maybe I got a flawed product and you will be lucky enough to get a functional one. I would recommend that if you want to try it, buy it from a department store.

I've purchased 2 of these. I returned the first one because I thought it was defective: there was just no suction power at all! I received my second one in the middle of a move, so did not actually try it out until after the return date was already passed. What a waste this thing is. Because there is no suction power - basically all of the water/ cleaning spray stays on the item (mattress, chair, couch) and takes a really long time to dry. I'm so incredibly disappointed with this. It is very good at spraying the water out... that's about it!

1.0 out of 5 stars So disappointed

I was really excited to use this product, given how many positive reviews it has, but it doesn’t live up to the hype at all.
Assembly was easy, it was a little heavier then anticipated but I wouldn’t deduct points for this. I also felt the cord could be longer, but nothing that an extension cord can fix.
The tank for the cleaning solution leaked when sliding it back onto the main part. The biggest disappointment however is it’s suction, it’s basically non-existent. I used it one of my sofa cushions, sprayed, rubbed… and that’s that. Hardly any of the solution that I sprayed was sucked back, it really is very weak. I used the machine for a solid 15 minutes on one sofa cushions, sprayed a good amount of cleaning solution, and approximately 1 table spoon of dirty water made it back into the tank. Which means, my sofa cushion is still pretty damp and has to air dry now.
Super disappointed, will return and unfortunately cannot recommend.
