5.0 out of 5 stars The wisest purchase for outdoor monitoring

I have tried other systems. Most recently I was heavily invested in Wyze. I have also used Ring. They each have some good points and bad. Neither fit my use well. Wyze is really struggling these days to deliver on the software side and their cloud has major issues. Ring would be a great solution but what happens when the only internet in your area is the once cellular company there and it goes out? This Eufy system has continued to work during outages with no issues that I have found. The AI is ok and as good as any of the others I have used. It always sees us as humans but doesn't always recognize the faces. It says that improves over time. The night vision is great but it also works very well in low light. Small landscape lights are enough for me. I have the base stations on an isolated VLAN and that does introduce a very small delay. Totally acceptable. The motion activation is better than most battery cameras. With Wyze the neighbors dog would get completely through before it started the recording. Empty scene. With these he makes it about 1/2 way. They are larger than some other and a bit unappealing to look at IMHO but given their ease usefulness I am willing to ignore that. Wyze also had a very high hardware failure rate of their outdoor cameras over a year. I just got these Eufy but they do feel much better made. Time will tell and I will update my review if they let me down.

I have had cameras on the outside of the house and in important areas in the house that were originally part of another company. I will not mention them but their name is the place where a bird lays eggs. Anywho, the old system would alert me when people are in the area they record and I can see the recording but only for a few hours then it disappears. If you wanted to keep the recordings longer, you had to pay a subscription fee per camera, per month.
I needed new cameras due to some strange activity in my neighbors yard but the old cameras left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't feel like wiring power or replacing batteries... in comes the Eufy!
This system has nice built in solar so, as long as is gets an average of 2 hours of sunlight a day, you will never need to charge them. But, even a single full charge can last up to a year they say. I put on on the north face of my house and it gets enough light to change!
They system was easy to set up and I put a 2T hard drive which will store all the video clips the cameras send for multipal years if I wanted at NO MONTHLY FEE! I figure that will break me even in half a year then save me money there after.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect security cameras

I love these cameras. They are SO much better than the old Arlo cameras I'd bought them to replace. The built-in solar panels keep them nearly fully charged at all times, the app works well and is easy to use, and you can easily set activity zones for motion detection to avoid false triggers. I haven't added a memory card for additional storage but the built-in memory is enough for my purposes (a few days' worth of videos for monitoring).
I'm slowly transitioning all my home security devices to Eufy because it's SO much better than all the other apps (I've used Arlo, August, Yi).

Replaced my Arlo 2k with the Eufy 4k. Simple to install, sync with base unit was quick. Camera signal is always 5 bars, after 1 week battery still at 100% due to internal solar recharge. Night operation much better than Arlo, with or without spotlight enable, much cleaner less pixelated image. Arlo lasted for 3 weeks before recharge, spent another 150 for 4 solar panel that works with it, talk about a wire mess. Eufy internal unit is simple, clear and look’s like a pro set it up. Will be removing my parents Arlo and installing another Eufy product. BTW, NO FEE with internal 16 gb storage or install a SSD.

This beats the "other" competitor hands down. The video quality is superb, sound quality is superb, and the app and configuration is superb. However, the construction and overall feel is only incredibly super-duper. No, really, these are high quality, beefy units that will last a long time. And don't get me started on their doorbell cam. It is 10 times better than the "other" one, especially regarding duplex communication and sound quality.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad coming from Arlo
Reviewed in the United States ???? on December 21, 2022
Style: 3 Camera KitVerified Purchase
Coming from Arlo Spotlight XL Wireless cameras, these are a noticeable improvement. There were a few reason that I wanted to get away from Arlo:
1. Subscription required for all functionality the camera is capable of ($9.99/mo for 4 cameras)
2. Mic issues when speaking over the phone through the camera (basically volume was super low unless you used a headset)
3. Live view delay. After clicking a notification it would take about 6-7seconds to get to live view. Which is expected with wireless cameras but too long. Same would happen on Google Max Hub
4. Not specific to Arlo, but constant recharging is annoying
These Eufy cameras eliminate the required subscription, mic issues, and recharging. The delay for live viewing is now 3-5 seconds, which is noticeably quicker and I can live with considering the alternative would be to hardwire cameras.
Having (3) S330 cameras, they are nice quality for sure. Have a decent weight to them and the solar panel feature has so far worked well. There are a lot of complaints about setup but honestly I did not struggle to get the system up and running.
The app functions overall well, notifications come in quickly. I have had 1 or 2 missed incidents but honestly Arlo had the same issue. It’s just part of the game of wireless cameras.
I liked the fact that I was able to add a 500GB SSD to the hub and it even allowed me to format the SSD via the app which I thought was pretty convenient.
Overall deducted 1 star due to the ongoing privacy issue with cloud storage that has come up on these. Do a little research on Eufy cameras if your considering buying into the ecosystem. Personally I don’t care much considering my cameras are all external to my home so anyone who “spies” would see my yards and driveways. I think Eufy will correct it though and I wouldn’t mind changing this review to 5 star.
Lastly, $200 for a single camera is a little steep in my opinion but so far it works. I’ll update the review after a few months to indicate how it’s going.

The battery life is great especially if you have the solar Version of this camera. I still feel that the software needs to develop more with features that can put them on the forefront of this type of technology. Overall, this camera is worth it. It’s great that I don’t have to continuously recharge the camera. I feel that this brand is we are ahead of others in their market.

Overall I'm happy with this product, but there is one issue I have, had I known, I might not have bought this.
The cameras do not connect to your wifi network, but to the Homebase. There are no range extenders. There is a post on the Eufy forums from 2019 that they were working on it for the original Homebase... obviously it still doesn't exist. It seems that is common with Eufy. They're always "working on" a feature or plan to release something in the future that never materializes.
If you need a Mesh to cover your home network, or multiple WAP like me, the Homebase likely won't have enough range to get to the edges of your house.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great camera BUT REALLY awful mounting hardware
Reviewed in the United States ???? on October 31, 2022

The cameras, the software are great, but the mounting hardware that keeps the camera pointed where it needs to be, simply cannot handle the weight of the camera. This is such a basic thing you'd think they'd invest a few more pennies into making sure the cameras stayed put. Because the hardware is all cheap plastic over tightening would yield broken pieces (trust me on this point.) I installed two of them on the side of the house and after three days all I saw was the ground, Really sad about this because everything else is decent and the lack of a subscription is the major reason why I left the ARLO folks behind who make a better product overall, but at a prohibitive cost.. Bottom line : I'd love this product if I could keep the cameras pointed at anything other than the ground,

Picture quality
Battery life
Solar charging
Adding in extra cameras is easy
Cons:
one of the cameras had a hard time setting up for spotlight
One of the cameras had to be exchanged
Cost is a bit too high for what comes in the box and extra cameras are expensive
Other thoughts:
Ease of setup and picture quality trump the wonkiness of camera that had to be exchanged.
In-spite of cost I would purchase again.
Quality comes with a price I hope these cameras last for a few years as that's what it's going to take to pay me back for my purchase

These do not come with magnetic mounts either; huge missed opportunity. The only other notable thing is that these are much larger than the previous gen cameras. UPDATE 12/19/2022:
>Bought this kit on the idea of having a wireless security camera system that is local without having to rely on the CLOUD. Guess what? The kit relies on using AWS servers so you could access your videos through the eufySecurity app. This would not be such a big deal if it was just for alerts and out-of-home access, but to upload my data as well as send them in plain-text traffic without encryption?! Sad...
>I also setup the cameras so that at nighttime, the camera lights would turn on for motion detection or when live streaming. I have noticed a few times when it would turn on unprompted and no recording was saved. With all these recent vulnerabilities arising, I cannot help but be disappointed :(
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Summary:
>Rather than a 5-star, the new HomeBase 3 (S380) and eufyCam 3s (S330) are more like 4.5-stars. It is not perfect, but they work pretty well for what I need them for. There were some hiccups, but overall it was pretty easy to install and not much wiring/networking experience needed. So far so good; I will update with any major changes
Pros:
>HomeBase has an expanded storage option so it can save more videos
>Detection of humans/pets/cars is surprisingly good. The AI recognition of faces is also terrifyingly accurate for the most part
>The eufySecurity app is also pretty good and simple to navigate. Saving videos and screenshots were easy to do as well
>The solar panels on the S330 charges pretty well. I saw one of them dip below 95% before during a cloudy day, but the next day, it was back up to 100% after being under the sun
>The best part is how smooth the all the cameras reconnect to the HomeBase after a power loss. After a blackout, I did not have to do anything! Imagine having to go get a ladder, adjusting it so it is stable, unscrewing the cams all down, reconnecting them one-by-one to the HomeBase, and then putting them back up again while adjusting them to a good vantage point! Thankfully, I did not have to do all of that!
Cons:
>I had to register the 2 included S330s multiple times (I had to it like 6-7 times) before they connected to the HomeBase. While the additional kit of two S330s connected to the HomeBase seamlessly. So your YMMV
>When capturing a clip, it takes the cams like 3-5 seconds before capturing a video
>Ghosting happens if there is not enough light source during nighttime. See the included video (I recommend setting up the camera with the "spotlights turned on" or adding "more lighting" to prevent this)
>Talking through the cameras automatically triggers the anti-theft alarm
Other notes:
>Although I praised the camera's detection ability, it took about 2 weeks or so of tweaking and whatnot before I finally got my desired settings. For instance, I got a cam in front of the garage. In the 1st week or so, for some reason, it was not detecting anything beyond 15 feet event though I maxed out the sensitivity settings and detection areas. But by the 2nd week, it started to detect people from the sidewalk and cars passing through the street so much that I had to tone down the settings. IDK, maybe the software in these needed some time to adjust or something
>The cams be very sensitive to NON-human/pet/car motion (thankfully, this can be disabled)
>Camera switches from automatic to manual recording when looking at the camera's live feed. It goes back to automatic recording again when you stop viewing the live feed
3.0 out of 5 stars Software Updates Are Making Product Worse (Long Term Review)
Reviewed in the United States ???? on February 22, 2023
Style: 2 Camera Kit
I've had the product installed for about 2 years. Here's what I have seen...
- Hardware works well: Reliable, not affected by cold or heat. Long battery life for remote cameras. Fairly good low light video capture. Wide angle of view.
- No monthly fees: Video capture is saved to the local hard drive. You aren't paying a monthly fee and no one else can see your data.
- Software issues: The software performance was better when I first had the system. Eufy is constantly sending updates to the software that have introduced additional errors and made the app more difficult to use.
Examples:
-Cell phone app is supposed to highlight days when videos have been captured. Does not remove marker when all videos for the day have been deleted.
-Eufy changed the navigation to move between days in a month. It's now much less intuitive.
-It's less able to recognize movement within the field of vision. Had a drunk driver drive over the sidewalk last week and the doorcam missed it completely. Occasionally, the door cam will get enamored with a specific pot or shrub and record alerts every five minutes all night long of the flower pot. Poppy love?
However, I'll still take the glitches vs. Ring owning my private data.
3.0 out of 5 stars EUFY - DATA Breach Surfaces
Reviewed in the United States ???? on December 5, 2022
Style: 3 Camera Kit
Concerns arose this week about the security of data when using Eufy cameras. A security expert had shown that recordings can be viewed via the cloud, even if users had activated local data storage. Eufy was caught uploading content to the cloud without user consent. Despite the user selecting “local data storage”, Eufy had partly sent data to the cloud and also failed to encrypt the data.
As a result, anyone who had a URL to a Eufy camera video could access the file. This information comes from National Security Advisor Paul Moore, who released a video describing the problem.
According to Moore, he bought a Eufy Doorbell Dual, which was supposed to save recordings directly to the device. However, he found that Eufy had uploaded thumbnail images of faces and user information to its cloud service. Eufy does not automatically upload the complete streaming video to the cloud, but rather thumbnails.
These thumbnails are used in the Eufy app to enable video streaming from the Eufy base station, allowing Eufy users to watch their videos on the go. Since Eufy advertises a purely local service, this behavior is an absolute no-go. Moore suspects that Eufy is also able to link facial recognition data collected from two separate cameras and two separate apps to users without the camera owners knowing. If the system is truly fully local, these thumbnails should not have made it onto Eufy’s servers. Yet even after deleting the data stored locally, Moore was still able to access thumbnails and screenshots from Eufy’s AWS servers.
Moore further elaborated that unencrypted Eufy camera content can be accessed without authentication, which is alarming for Eufy users.
Eufy previously confirmed that event listings and thumbnails will be uploaded to Amazon AWS, but said the data cannot be made public as the URL is restricted, time-limited, and requires account login.
I have now tried three wireless battery and solar systems. My biggest complaint with the battery systems was the battery life. My biggest complaint with he solar systems is their inability to stay charged if the angle is slightly off the southern sky. My single biggest complaint with all three was the dang motion detection. Come on people let's get this right. The motion detection on these cameras and the other battery powered units is terrible. It does no good if the camera starts recording as the person is leaving the frame.
This is how the story goes:
Officer: Are your cameras working?
Me: Yes Sir.
Officer: May we see the footage?
Me: Yes of course and I'll load a copy on a thumb drive for you and the insurance company.
Officer: Ok great, it makes our job so much easier when we have video.
Me: I bet, come inside and I'll pull up that cam.
Officer: Sounds great, it's going to be an easy day.
Me: I'm glad to help. Would you like some coffee?
Officer: Yes please.... and thank you.
Me: No problem, it's the least we can do.
(5 minutes goes by)
Me: What the &^%$*^(^%$!!!!
Officer: What is it?
Me: Here's the video my wonderful security cam caught.
Officer: I only see what looks like the glow of tail lights from a car just outside the frame?
Me: Yes Sir that's exactly what you see.... (officer gives disappointed look)
Officer: Oh well, back to work.
In closing, unless the person is walking straight towards the camera you rarely get a good look. Most of the time all you catch is a small glimpse of their backside as they have already passed by. Same with a car, but worse.
Would I recommend EufyCam? They are close but No I would not.
Style: 2 Camera KitVerified Purchase
Pros:
1) Great video quality
2) Nice design
3) Not too big
4) No monthly fee
Cons:
1) Units go into "Overheat Mode" and dont work even though its only 40 degees outside.
2) Geo mode to change alerting status works maybe 1 out of 15 times, meaning you have to switch the modes of the units manually from AWAY to HOME. I submitted a issue ticket to get this resolved and was offered $20 to go away (I didn't take it).
3) Recording doesn't record at all in "Home" mode, you cant even manually go back to look at activity outside if your in HOME mode. Stuff still happens that you need video of when your home.
4) Notifications always seem to alert twice, so if GEO Mode doesnt work correctly I get 6 notifications (3 cameras) that there is movment, very anoying.
5) The recordings are not consistant. I can have one device start recording a person at my door, but no recording of them driving in or out of my driveway.
6) the recrding are always delayed, meaning I can see the recording of the person at my door, but not the 5-10 seconds before as they walk up, open the door, knock 3 times, I only see the last knock and don't even see them walk away.
The images are great, but the user interface and recording options and triggers need A LOT of work. I'd return them if I was still in the return window (I've only had them 3 months). Waste of $$ at this point. I dont trust the operation and can never get a recording of what I need to see.
2.0 out of 5 stars Set up was easy with the base unit and cameras while they are within close proximity.
Reviewed in the United States ???? on October 28, 2022
I gave it a rating of 2 stars as it appears that some of the reviewers gave it an extremely high review of 4 stars but then said that one of the cameras would not sync and was not given a replacement by either Amazon or by Eufy. Not sure how that is a reasonable rating. The setup was easy however to call this a security system seems a bit much as the cameras do not access the base unit unless they are within sight of each other and not further than 15 feet of the base unit. I purchased 4 cameras but will be returning the second two cameras as I see no reason to have that many cameras that close together. So one of the cameras was mounted 60 feet from the base and it worked only 10-20% of the time. I then moved this camera to next to the other camera and they both work 95% of the time less than 15 ft from the base unit and line of sight. Which works for the front yard but does not work in the back yard as there are walls and a distance of 60 feet or more. Can't see how a security system is of any value where every part needs to be close to the base unit.
The good...Quality build, nice packaging, fantastic video quality, solar panel works great, easy setup.
The bad...might capture a bird that comes near the camera but it will not capture people, cars, etc outside of a certain area. I have a VERY small yard in the front of my house. Garage on the back has small driveway that is one car length. The camera on the front of the house will not capture people on the sidewalk even though it's well within range and view. Same for the back camera...it will not capture anything past my driveway which is literally the length of a car from camera to end of driveway. So if you walk or drive past my garage, the camera doesn't pick it up. I have the sensitivity cranked to 7. I have tried no activity zones (wide open), one big zone, and two different zones and still nothing. The ring cameras do a better job picking stuff up but the ring quality is crap compared to these. So I'm returning these. I can't justify paying almost $800 if I can't get results.
2.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the price, yet
Right now these things have more cons than pros. If you're looking to "upgrade" from Alro Pro 3 because these are 4K I'd hold off until Eufy works out the bugs.
My biggest complaint about these is they don't start recording nowhere as quick as my Arlo Pro 3's did and then when they do decide to start recording the video is ridiculously lagging.
My second biggest complaint is the sun doesn't charge these even half as quick as plugging them in does. I have Ring solar lights that charge from 70% to 100% in just a few hrs. My Eufy S330 cam has now been charging for 4hrs and has only increased by 6%
If some of my complaints aren't addressed before the 30 day trial is over I will be sending these back.
I'll try to post videos later
2.0 out of 5 stars Good idea, bad execution.
I don't know where you have to live to receive enough sunlight for these things to function properly, but it isn't earth.
The battery dies faster than it can charge in full open daylight.
Troubleshooting with Eufy's 'experts' over a course of an entire month has proven that cameras are mounted correctly, and no they cannot offer any refunds.
1.0 out of 5 stars Ugg no wifi on cameras hub only!!!
Reviewed in the United States ???? on January 6, 2023
Let me start by saying I’m a security expert and I love Eufy! we probably have 25 cameras spread out of 4 properties. Eufy made a huge mistake in their new S300 series. Both the 3C (S300) and S330 cameras no longer connect directly to your wifi router!!!!!!!! They only connect via the provided home HUB 3. This is a huge problem because the Hub 3 has horrible range! I can’t get cameras on the front of the house and back of the house to reach the hub. And this house is only 2000sq feet it isn’t even a big home.
In our case we have a ranch and use a mesh wired backhaul system to get service in the barn and in the shop. These cameras won’t work since they don’t connect to the wifi router. All the 2C, 2C Pro hook to wifi or the home hub.
So to be clear if you want to put your cameras further then about 15 feet from this hub it won’t work reliably. So sad ?? I love’d eufy
Please change this Eufy!!!!!!
1.0 out of 5 stars Still Not Compatible with all Eufy Cameras
Reviewed in the United States ???? on December 30, 2022
Style: 3 Camera KitVerified Purchase
All of the marketing materials state that this new Homebase is compatible with existing cameras. This is not true. It's currently only compatible with the older battery cameras. The Eufy floodlights and indoor wired cameras are not yet compatible. They keep pushing out the date for compatibility, which is now March 2023. I will just stick with my existing HomeBase 2 for now and upgrade only when they've delivered on their promise to making all of their devices compatible with the new HomeBase 3.
1.0 out of 5 stars Did not work out of the box, box appeared used.
Reviewed in the United States ???? on October 20, 2022
New, straight from the box, the box seemed used, with wear on the corners and a corner part pushed it. The items inside seemed to have been re-wrapped. Once connected the home base would not connect to either of the (2) cameras. I already have a Eufy system, and I quite familiar with the app and how it all work. This was doa.
Visually the cameras are larger than the 2c pro's. Cannot comment on performance as mine did not work, and based on the poor performance of their other products I am not going to give them another try. The specifications for these new cameras is for a narrower field of vision than the 2c pro, which is definitely not an improvement.
1.0 out of 5 stars Even at Black Friday prices the S330 is not as good as Arlo
First with the pro-I like the solar integrated on the 330.
Cons - very poor detection picks up about 25% of what my ARLO picks up located next to each other. Biggest negative customer service is nonexistent. Glad I bought it through. Amazon should be easy to return.
If you google Eufy security breach, you'll see they were caught uploading images to the cloud unencrypted, even though they claim this only goes to the homebase. It's too late for me to get a refund, but if you're security conscious, I would stay away from Eufy. I'm ripping out all their products from my home today.
