Very nice looking razor and feels very nice in the hand. Let's get the "ho-hum" bits out of the way first. First of all, the "magnetic stand" doesn't offer much value or functionality. I can't feel any magnetic attraction between the razor and the stand at all so, to me, it doesn't seem that there's a reason for having that "feature." Also, the "travel case" is cumbersome and not something I'll ever use. In fact, I've already tossed it into the plastics recycle bin - so it's gone
Now for the really good parts: I am still using the first of the three cartridges that came with the razor. I've been shaving with it for 4+ weeks so far and comfort and closeness are no longer perfect but still perfectly acceptable and I have a tough beard. A "normal" Gillette 5 blade cartridge doesn't always get me through 2 weeks of shaving and when I do "push it" the second week isn't always completely satisfactory. I'm hoping the cartridges that came with this razor are not "special manufacture" items that are better than what you get on reorder and I'm really hoping replacements I order later are as good and hold up as well as these first ones

I was a Gillette Mach 3 user for at least 10-15 years and decided to try these out. Straight out of the box these give you a shave like you wouldn't believe, amazing. BUT after not too many uses they start to irritate the skin. I'm judging this off of how many times I use the Mach 3 razor before they start to irritate the skin and it's night and day - STICK WITH THE OLD SCHOOL MACH 3! I'll keep these, but won't buy replacement blades and will go back to Mach 3

I am 80 years and do hand exercises to to keep my grip. I was unable to open this package and had to resort to nippers to open (see photo). Gillette should remember old people still shave and their handgrip has faded with age.
I can see no reason for this hard to open packaging.
As usual for Gillette, the shave was fine, but note, this razor does not accept other Gillette blades.

This is a compact travel razor and all you'll need is the shave cream. It is a 3 blade razor which is fine for most people. Its only drawback is the kit has some weight to it, which makes it sturdy, but that may be a problem with adding it to TSA baggage weight limits. For train and car travel that shouldn't be a problem.

I really like the handle, it provides an excellent feel. I personally this this package was over priced, and would t spend that much again.
The metal travel case/packaging will never be used—too bulky and heavy to travel with. So it’s a throw-away.
The base for the handle is a waste of money if you have a small counter, or you don’t like leaving you razor out. Both is the situation for me, so it’s a throw-away.
I really like the matte-black finis— but really disliked the gold accent color. I would have preferred volt green color from the packaging over the gold. But, I understand gold is making a come-back in bathroom fixtures (think ‘80s/‘90s era). If that’s your case—and you leave your razor out (in the magnetic stand)—then the gold will fit right in.
As always—the blades are horribly expensive. The jury is still out, for me, as to whether this is a superior blade. The new rubber grab-strip that is supposed to pull you skin taught as the blades cut close, does feel different on my face. I’m going to have to live with it longer before I make a final decision. But, I do admit it provides a smooth shave.

Great razor, useful magnetic stand, but the travel case is incredibly large. I wanted a travel case , but this thing is unusable. There's not even a feature to store extra razorblades, but in volume you could probably fit 10 razor handles + blades in there.
Not sure if the designers at Gillette have ever traveled themselves (probably not), as this thing is just not usable.
Definitely don't pay extra for this case, and I'd recommend against buying this razor if you travel a lot and want to have a protective case: buy a fusion or another brand instead.

I have no issues with the handle and the stand. The cardriges, on the other hand...
The white strip simply peels & falls off in a matter of weeks. This happens way before the blades become dull. Naturally, you are forced to replace the whole cartride.
This ensures that you have to replace the blades very often, making it a poor value for money.

One extremely hard-to-open case I almost give up to proceed with return. The tab on the case does not have enough tilt force to open the case as instructed. Instead I have use a Wiha precision 2.0 flat screwdriver to hold one side to open. What a bummer design, goodness me! Oh, I haven't used the product itself yet, that is right, the razor blade. Gillette people please take notes here, no matter how great a product is, the case design is a total disaster and ruin the purpose of using the product. The package is a total failure with all the unnecessory over-packaging, wasting all the globe's resources in this 12.4oz oval shaped weirdo box. OUCH!

I've used other Gillette products for shaving and thought this would be an upgrade. It's not. At least, not for someone who shaves his face, as well as his head. I love the stand, the feel of the razor holder's body, and the travel case, but this is not for someone who has sensitive skin or is shaving anything but their face. I'm going back to using Gillette's ProGlide Chill razors.

I have used Gillette blades for many years. Each time they introduce a new blade I buy it and, until now, considered it an upgrade. I should have been skeptical seeing their commercial featuring NFL quarterback Josh Allen who appears to have baby soft skin. The shaves I have gotten from the new razor have been inferior to those I get with the Gillette Proglide Shield blades. I am tossing out my new razor and happily returning to their Proglide Shield razor and blade. Even the Proglide razor has a better balance and feel in my hand and there is no comparison to the shave.

I have pretty much used Gillette razors for most of my adult life. Every new product they have introduced has been, in my experience, an improvement over the last. So I was really looking forward to this new evolution in razor technology. My impression was meh. Not better enough to warrant the increase in price. The new handle is nice and fits in your hand well, but the blades feel cheap and plastic. My Fusion Proglide blades feel sturdier and give me a shave that I feel is better than the new one I bought. For now, I will stick with my Proglide.

I had high hopes for this latest razor from Gillette. I like the style of the handle and magnetic stand. The exfoliating bar seemed gimmicky and it rides rough on a 2-3 day old beard and I can’t tell if my face is shaved or if I still need more strokes. You have to press down pretty hard to shave close as the top strip and bottom bar/strips keep the blades off of your face. It can’t beat the Schick 5 blade or the Gillette Proglide Shield.

This comes in a great traveling case, a neat stand and looks sleek. I honestly could not care what any of it looks like, as long as it provides a quality shave. Honestly, I did feel a difference immediately on my face when comparing to using a Gillette Fusion blade. However, I almost never cut myself when using the Fusion razor - I cut myself in 3 places in a single shaving while using this new one. Maybe it's a learning curve, and maybe it was a waste of $25.00. I plan on going back to the Fusion, I find it superior.

This razor has a good feel, but the packaging for travel is totally impractical. I just need a plastic sleeve to cover the blade, not some weighted stand to hold the razor upright. Really bad shave. Worst that I've had since I started using the powered kind of razor. Followed my usual routine and had rough patches scattered all over my face, chin and neck. Had to go over those places 7 or 8 times trying different angles to get it to finally cut to a normal shave smoothness. Glad I only bought a starter kit, will toss it in the garbage rather than waste my time with poor, time consuming shaving.

I always liked Gillette products, but I can't say that I like this one. The handle looks nice and feels right, but this is the only good thing I can say about this razor. For one, it's really expensive, even with incentives. The base/holder is a weighted piece of plastic with a shallow notch to put the bottom of the handle in, but it doesn't work very well and the razor can be knocked off it very easily.
Products made for travel should be small and light, but this travel case may as well have been designed by someone who had never traveled - it is huge and would take up half the space in a toiletry case, and is very heavy.
Even taking all these out of consideration, this razor misses the mark by just not working well as a razor: the blades are very dull (I tried all 3 in the kit) and scrape painfully. My old Proglide blades work better after 2 weeks of use than these do right out of the box.
Gillette, go back to the drawing board. In the meantime, I will stick with Proglide (or Schick's Hydro).

I have been using Gillette razors for six decades . This is the first head-scratcher - - what were they thinking . The ejection mechanism is poorly designed and poorly executed - - be prepared to pry the blade out and hope not to destroy the razor in the process ( I did ) . Don't expect to shave the hair under the nose - - can't get there from here . Really Guys , this is just an awful razor .

What a humongous waste of money. The "exfoliating bar" (some plastic) isn't part of the blade, so once it's gone, you'd have to buy a new handle. The blades are crap compared to most Gillette cartridges -- which, for the record, is what I use and like very much -- and they have a totally different connector than every other Gillette handle/cartridge I've ever owned. Overpriced, and environmentally unfriendly to boot!
