Reviews of EcoSmart ECO 27 Electric Tankless Water Heater, 27 KW at 240 Volts, 112.5 Amps with Patented Self Modulating Technology

Thursday

Great little heater
I added this to a long hot water run from a tankless gas water heater to service two faucets. I went with this one b/c it will regulate its heating based on the incoming water temp. Easy to install and wire up. One thing I was not aware of was the warranty registration requires a licensed installer. Guess I am on my own with this
one now.

5/4/17 It has been a few months now and we love having this heater inline to our tankless gas heater. Quick hot water for washing hands. No regrets or problems with this yet.

Extremely impressed!
I have a 3,750'sf home in AL and just being completely honest I was incredibly nervous/skeptical that this would work for my household, and that if it did, whether or not it could keep up with us. I went ahead and took the chance and instantly all reservations I had were completely gone. This thing is amazing! I'm a single dad with three daughters so as you can imagine I needed an endless supply of hot water. This thing delivers just that, and it does it with enough pressure that we haven't even noticed a difference from the standard tank water heater we just replaced. The fact that this doesn't run out has been invaluable to us and I have nothing but good things to say about this product!

there was nice hot water in the shower
This was purchased for a small condo unit upstairs bathroom. At first the tenant complained that water was not hot enough in shower. I called the EcoSmart customer service line. They informed me that it could be that the shower head had the wrong water flow and to purchase one with a flow between 1.5 and a maximum of 1.9. For a moment I though I had purchased a heater that was too small and would have to return it - the customer service rep said that if this was the case, they would work with me..., but after purchasing a new shower head with a 1.6 gpm flow, there was nice hot water in the shower.
Wow! impressed with their assistance. Would recommend this hot water heater to everyone.
Thanks!

Awesome bang for the buck!
I am very impressed with this water heater. I was finally able to enjoy my 20 min shower without having the water go ice cold on me. It gets hot in a hurry, in fact we may need to turn the temp down a bit because it gets almost too hot. We installed this ourselves. We had to add 240v wiring into the breaker box because we previously only had 110v. It took a good 8 hours to complete the wiring and plumbing installation.
This unit was purchased as "used, like new" condition. I was a little skeptical at first but when we received it I had no worries. It was clearly never installed. The packaging was original but it must have been opened and then returned to the store. It saved me lots of $$$. I live in Alaska and this unit is over twice this price at the big box stores up here. I was able to save even more $$$ by purchasing the "used" unit. I couldn't be happier with my purchase!

the first worked great supplying a bath and kitchen
I've bought 2 of these, the first worked great supplying a bath and kitchen. The second one I received was obviously used and put back in the box ( it even had paint on the connection cable from where it had been installed). I called Amazon and they were great about getting another shipped that same day. I like this unit better than the Rheem (of the same capacity) because this unit has 2 elements where as the Rheem has only one. This unit can use one element at low flow rates and kick in the second as needed. Please note, you will need number 6 wire and a 60 amp double breaker to power this unit. Also note, EcoSmart does not provide a warranty unless you have a licensed plumber and electrician install the unit. The warranty registration has a space for the signatures and license numbers. If you are going to install it yourself this may be important, as you will not have a warranty. Operation is excellent, make sure you flush the lines as they recommend to remove any air, and then set the temperature after you power up the unit.

A Perfect solution to my HOT water needs!!!
Just installed today. I replaced another unit from a different vendor, which had reached it's end-of-life. The previous unit was only 12 years old, but literally flamed out over the weekend. This new unit is smaller, quieter, and handles flow-on-demand better than one costing twice as much. I installed it in less then 4 hours, and it came up and worked flawlessly. I couldn't be happier!!! The previous unit also had NOISY 2-pole, 240 volt contactors which clattered like hammers every time it tuned on. The new ECO Smart unit is as quiet as a mouse, and actually provides a better on-demand, flow controlled hot water output than my old unit. It uses electronic triacs, instead of contactors (2-pole relays), and since it's totally electronic, (instead of mechanical), the clapping of relay-contactors is gone!!! I wouldn't suggest self-install for everyone, but if you have an electrical background, it's relatively easy to do yourself...just realize you may be affecting your warranty...This unit is very sophisticated in it's design, and due to it's small size and standard width (designed to fit between two 16" centered studs), it's made to fit without any heavy-handed construction changes. I'd recommend it to anyone seeking to reduce their power bill, and hoping to have on-demand hot water.

Excellent. I'll never get anything else.
I purchased this to use in our new house bc I knew we would have well water and often wells don't work well with hot water tanks (previous experience). We have 4 kids and we also had two foster daughters. We ran the dishwasher, and all showered at least once a day. We also have a large dog (not that he used that much water, but still). This machine worked like a dream. Never ran out of hot water. Always on time. No funky smells from water eroding the copper pipe in the tank. I'll never buy a water heater w a tank again.
